Chicken fat contains virtually no protein, therefore, it's use should not cause allergic reactions similar to those associated with fresh chicken or chicken meal, both of which contain high amounts of protein.
We researched over 15 brands and discovered that ALL of their Fish or Meat based formulas (aka "Poultry Free") contained one of the following ingredients: Animal Fat, Canola Oil, Duck Fat, Whole Egg, Herring Oil, Pork Fat, Sunflower Oil, Vegetable Oil, Coconut Oil or Chicken Fat.
We know that Egg contains poultry protein. We will not use Animal Fat, Canola Oil, Pork Fat, or Vegetable Oil. And Duck Fat, Herring Oil, and Sunflower Oil are not consistently available enough for us to rely on them completely. Today, we prefer adding chicken fat with virtually no protein over our current alternatives.
Our Buffalo formulas do not contain Chicken Fat. We use Coconut Oil as an alternative.
